Puppy Training

Build calm, practical skills with short positive sessions.

What to focus on

Start with skills your puppy can succeed at in a quiet setting, then increase distance, duration and distraction gradually. Reward the behaviour you want to see again and keep sessions short enough that your puppy can stay engaged. Training is easier to maintain when it fits naturally around meals, play, toilet trips and rest.

Priority 1

Practise name response and attention before asking for harder behaviours.

Priority 2

Build recall where success is easy before adding outdoor distractions.

Priority 3

Reward loose-lead movement in short stretches rather than rehearsing pulling.
