Teaching a Puppy to Be Alone Gradually
Successful alone-time training starts below the puppy’s distress threshold and increases slowly.
Begin with very short separations in a safe familiar setting. Return before distress escalates and extend duration only after repeated comfortable successes. Do not deliberately leave a puppy to panic in order to make them get used to it.
If distress is severe, persistent or escalating, seek support from an appropriately qualified behaviour professional.
Educational guidance only. Health, pain, medication or urgent concerns require appropriate veterinary advice.
